Tour of detours

THE Velo Birmingham cycle race later this month will mean all the roads surrounding my home will be closed from 9am to 9pm. So how will I visit my 97-year- old mother, who lives three miles away in Bournville?

I contacted the organisers for advice on the best route to take to avoid the closures. They very kindly sent me a map suggesting I use the M5 to make a 50-mile detour. I hope the cyclists enjoy their day out. DIANE M. WILSON, Harborne, W. Mids.
