Glenn’s hooligan secret
FA chief executive Martin Glenn revealed an embarrassing moment from his past at an away day for senior FA management in spring 2015, shortly after he took charge.
Glenn admitted getting swept up by youthful exuberance with a group of football hooligans at Wolverhampton Wanderers and being detained in a police van before being released without charge when deemed to be naive and no threat.
Glenn made the admission while the executives were taking it in turns to reveal something none of the others knew about them.
Brian Cookson, who has led cycling’s UCI ruling body for four years without an ounce of the personality needed for the role, was roundly beaten in his bid for a second term by charismatic Frenchman David Lappartient. Just like last time, Cookson used a PR team during his election campaign.
