ANOTHER DAY... ANOTHER LABOUR POLICY ON BREXIT

-

LABOUR was plunged into further Brexit chaos last night as Jeremy Corbyn unveiled yet another new stance – this time ‘guaranteeing’ unrestricted access to the single market.

In his conference speech, the Labour leader tried to attack what he claimed was a ‘shambolic Tory Brexit’.

But in a bid to placate his Europhile MPs, he then pledged he would negotiate a Brexit deal with the EU that ‘guarantees unimpeded access to the single market’ – despite having previously voiced his concerns about the idea.

It is the latest Labour shift on the issue, with the party facing claims it is hopelessly split on its Brexit strategy.

Yesterday, Labour’s deputy leader Tom Watson said the party may even back a second Brexit referendum, saying: ‘We’re not ruling it out.’ Mr Watson insisted Labour’s policy was to abide by last year’s referendum result – but left the door open for a change of mind.
