School stabbing suspect in court

A SCHOOL welfare officer was stabbed in the shoulder and suffered two punctured lungs when a teenager tried to murder her with a knife, a court heard yesterday.

Joy Simon, 61, is still in hospital and cannot give police a full account of an alleged attack that took place on Monday morning.

Yesterday a 16-year-old girl waved and blew kisses to her parents when she appeared at Grimsby Youth Court. The teenager, who cannot be named, has been charged with attempted murder at Winterton Community Academy, near Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire.

No pleas were entered and a hearing will take place at Hull Crown Court today.
