You can cut your own risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) by making a few simple daily changes, such as eating and drinking more healthily by reducing salt and saturated fat in your diet, getting more exercise and stopping smoking.
CVD develops due to a build-up of fatty substances in the walls of the coronary arteries, restricting the amount of oxygen-rich blood getting through to your heart.
Angina is the most common symptom, commonly experienced as chest pain when you climb the stairs or exercise. If you experience symptoms, you should make an immediate appointment to see your GP.
