We’re better off out

-

ONCE again, Europe’s leaders are vindicating the decision of 17million Leave voters. Two weeks ago, Jean- Claude Juncker revealed his grand vision for an EU superstate led by a new all-powerful president and demanded every country adopt the euro and open borders.

This week it was the turn of Emmanuel Macron to prove how out of touch Europe’s elites are, when he called for more powers for Brussels, a common EU defence budget and eurozone-wide taxes.

To top it off, the French president then argued that once his reforms were in place, Britain was more likely to rejoin! Meanwhile, the EU Parliament’s negotiator, Guy Verhofstadt, makes the risible claim that many Brexit voters regret their decision. During the referendum, Remainers dismissed as fantasy any suggestion that the European ‘project’ would mean powers leaching away from Britain. Funnily enough, they’re not saying that now.
