Risking it all for a photo, tourists on 500ft cliff

- By Andrew Levy

ON THE precipice of a 500ft crumbling cliff, these tourists are dicing with death as they pose for photographs.

Collapses are reported regularly at Birling Gap in East Sussex, which suffers the UK’s worst coastal erosion.

But that did not stop dozens from standing dangerously close to the edge in high winds as they took pictures at the spot on Saturday.

Some even pointed theatrically over the edge or dangled their legs off the side of the chalk cliffs, known as the Seven Sisters.

Several cliff falls took place over the summer, with 50,000 tons collapsing in 48 hours. In June a 23-year-old South Korean fell to her death from the cliffs at nearby Cuckmere Haven.
