‘Assassins of Kim’s brother’ on trial

-

TWO women accused of assassinating Kim Jong-un’s half-brother pleaded not guilty as their trial began yesterday.

Siti Aisyah, 25, from Indonesia, and Doan Thi Huong, 28, from Vietnam, are suspected of smearing Kim Jong-nam’s face with the banned VX nerve agent on February 13 at Kuala Lumpur airport, killing him within about 20 minutes.

Malaysia’s High Court may sentence the pair to death if they are convicted.

The women said they thought they were playing a prank for a hidden-camera TV show. But South Korea believes the killing was part of an assassination plot by the North Korean dictator.

Malaysian police have said four North Korean suspects fled the country on the day of the killing. The trial continues.
