£6m payday at the vulture hedge fund

-

WORKERS at vulture fund Elliott Management pocketed an average £835,000 each last year after it muscled into a string of huge deals.

Meanwhile, directors’ pay rocketed from £2.6m to £6.2m.

Major victories in 2016 included driving up South African retailer Steinhoff’s offer for Poundland, and profits from the £77bn sale of brewer SAB Miller to rival AB Inbev.

Profits at the fund’s British division, Elliott Advisors (UK), climbed from £3.7m to £4.7m in 2016, as its recovery continues following a £2.3m loss in 2014.

The firm’s 79 staff were paid £66m, or £835,000 each, up from an average £729,000 in 2015.
