Your rights if you’ve paid for your holiday

-

HOLIDAYMAKERS who bought a package deal from Monarch – or a flight-only booking before December 15 last year – will be protected by Atol, which stands for Air Travel Organiser’s Licence.

Those who bought a Monarch flight as part of a package holiday sold by an Atol-protected agent will also be covered. In theory this means that if an airline goes bust, the customer should be able to continue a holiday as before.

This includes staying in the hotel booked as part of the package and flying home on another airline organised by the Civil Aviation Authority. Those with future bookings should be refunded for flights, accommodation and transfers.

The money might be refunded by the CAA automatically or customers will have to lodge a claims form and send it back to the regulator.
