End of cheap mortgages

HOMEOWNERS are running out of time to secure a cheap mortgage as another wave of lenders hike their rates.

Lloyds Bank, Atom Bank, Skipton Building Society, Principality BS, Monmouthshire BS and Aldermore Bank have all increased rates on their fixed deals, bringing the number of lenders to hike the cost of mortgages in the past week to 13.

Last Friday, Mark Carney, the governor of the Bank of England, signalled that rates are set to rise.

The biggest increase this week came from Atom Bank, which hiked rates by as much as 0.6 pc.
