‘ZERO-GRAVITY’ LEGGINGS BOOST SWEATY BETTY’S BOTTOM LINE

-

DEMAND for bum-moulding ‘zero-gravity’ leggings saw Sweaty Betty toast rising sales and profits.

The company, which makes leisure wear for women who want to look good while exercising, saw profits rocket 87pc last year as gym bunnies snapped up its leggings.

Sales jumped 16pc to £40.6m while profits rose to £507,866 from £272,617 in the year to December 25.

Sweaty Betty’s zero-gravity leggings sell for £95 and are made from an ultra-lightweight fabric and breathable mesh that sculpts the body.

The brand, which was founded in 1998 by mumof-three Tamara HillNorton and her husband Simon, has grown rapidly from its humble beginnings as a High Street store in Notting Hill. It has over 60 shops in the UK and US and opened its flagship store in London’s Carnaby Street last month.
