Hammers nail 2022 bid

THE grand ambition of British Athletics chief executive Niels de Vos to stage the 2022 European Championships at the London Stadium already looks dead in the water.

The venue has been earmarked as one of the grounds for the 2021 Rugby League World Cup. And West Ham’s tenancy contract stipulates only one major sports event of that scale can take place at the stadium every four years.
