REDISCOVER HOBBIES OF YOUR YOUTH

-

ONE of the best ways you can boost your brain resilience is by rediscovering a passion from your youth. no puzzle can compete with this. doing activities you truly love is the most effective and rewarding way of optimising your brain and finding purpose, especially in your later years.

of all the incredible things we’ve learnt as neurologists, this is perhaps the most beautiful: your rescue is in your stories, in what made you who you are.

It might take a little investigating to unearth or remember your passions, but everyone has them, and everyone can benefit from them in later life.

It’s most important to find something you truly love doing, an activity that can be a source of joy and meaning in your life. If you don’t know what you love doing, take some time to reflect:

TALK to friends and family. They may be able to help you identify activities that you love or used to be curious about.

WRITE a list of activities you did in your teens and 20s.

WRITE a list of activities you never got to do but dreamt about.

If You’Re still not sure, pick something at random and try it. If it’s not the right fit, then just try something else. It may take time to develop a passion and affinity for a new activity.
