HISTORY-MAKER MAX WINS AGAIN
MAX WHITLOCK made gymnastics history on Saturday night after a last-minute gamble. The 24-year-old became the first Briton to successfully defend a world title when he took gold in the pommel in Montreal. And he triumphed after going for added difficulty points, performing a double Russian in his final routine. Whitlock said: ‘It made me nervous when I realised I could be the first Briton to retain a world title. It means so much to make history for your country.’ Britain’s Claudia Fragapane won bronze last night in the floor event.
