Melania’s fury as Trump’s ex-wife claims: I’m the real First Lady
A VeRY unladylike row broke out yesterday between Melania Trump and Ivana Trump, who said that as Donald Trump’s first wife, she was the real First Lady.
The White House slapped her down last night, accusing the 68-year- old czech former model of ‘attention seeking’.
But to make matters worse, Ivana also said she was still in weekly contact with the President, with whom she has three children.
‘Melania is there and I don’t want to cause any kind of jealousy or anything like that because I’m the first Trump wife,’ she told ABc’s Good Morning America. ‘I’m the First Lady, okay?’
she had been promoting her book Raising Trump, a memoir about bringing up their children, eric, Donald Jr and Ivanka. The response from the White House left no room for interpretation, but did nothing to dispel speculation of jealousy between the President’s wives. It also sought to dispel any rumour that the present Mrs Trump, 47, did not enjoy her high-profile position. The statement issued by stephanie Grisham, the First Lady’s spokesman, said: ‘Mrs [Melania] Trump has made the White House a home for Barron and the President. ‘she loves living in Washington, Dc, and is honoured by her role as First Lady of the United states. ‘she plans to use her title and role to help children, not sell books. There is clearly no substance to this statement from an ex. Unfortunately only attention seeking and self-serving noise.’
Ivana and Donald Trump divorced in 1992 after 15 years of marriage. While their divorce settlement has not been revealed – it was sealed by a court – the proceedings were acted out in front of the media over the course of 11 days due to the dispute over how much Ivana was owed.
she had been married before sealing the knot with Mr Trump. she has since married twice more.
Her marriage to fourth husband, Rossano Rubicondi, in 2008 was hosted by Mr Trump at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida and reportedly cost £2.3million. They divorced in 2009.
she added in the interview that she was not concerned about the investigation into the Trump campaign’s links to Russia, stating: ‘I know that he was not involved at all.’ she also agreed with her former husband’s position on building a wall on the Mexican border.
‘I’m [an] immigrant myself and Donald is building the wall. I don’t mind immigrants and the wall because you have to protect your borders.’
Melania and Barron Trump moved into the White House last July, a move which was delayed so that the President’s 11-year-old son could finish the academic year studying at columbia Grammar and Preparatory school, an elite Manhattan establishment with fees of around £35,700 a year.
He has since moved to another school, 30 minutes away from the White House in Maryland, which costs around £30,500 annually.
