Vegas killer shot hotel guard first

THE Las Vegas mass killer shot a hotel security guard before he opened fire on concert-goers, police said last night.

Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo had previously said Jesus Campos was shot after Stephen Paddock fired at the country music festival, and the guard’s arrival in the hallway of the Mandalay Bay hotel may have caused him to stop firing.

Mr Lombardo now says Mr Campos was responding to a report of an open door when he heard drilling from Paddock’s room. The killer fired 200 shots into the hallway, injuring the guard, before opening fire on the concert-goers.
