It’s a Boston tee party!

- By CARA SLOMAN

BOSTON’S Andrew Dawson and Andrew Green were unstoppable in the Daily Mail Foursomes final yesterday, as they fulfilled their ambition of bringing the coveted trophy back to their Lincolnshire club. The pair were in fine form on the championship Old Course at Marriott St Pierre and led from the start. They took full advantage of their six shots to put pressure on the experienced Craig Smith and Nick Dyson from Fulford, beating them 5 & 4. Dawson said: ‘This is the peak. It’s not going to get any better. It is one of those moments in life that you will always look back on and be proud. ‘My dad Terry got to the quarterfinals 30 years ago and I wanted to win it for him and my family.’ Green added: ‘This is a highlight of our golfing career. We only dropped four or five shots.’ Duddingston’s Dee Williams and Karen Ferguson-Snedden made a determined fightback to secure the women’s title. The Scottish pair trailed by four holes with just six to play against Worfield’s Sally Weaver and Paulette Morris, but won, one up. Ferguson-Snedden said: ‘It is not over until it’s over. It was only the last couple of holes that they hit a few bad shots.’ Ferguson-Snedden said: ‘Everyone knows about the Daily Mail Foursomes. It’s amazing to win. I don’t think it will sink in for a few days.’ RESULTS — SEE PAGE 80
