Silva set to extend City deal to 2020
DAVID SILVA is on the verge of signing a new contract at Manchester City. The 31-year-old playmaker has been in talks with the club since the start of the season over a one-year extension to his current deal which expires at the end of next season. There were fears recently that the Spaniard may not be able to agree terms as the two parties struggled to find common ground over his wages. But it is understood there has been a recent breakthrough in negotiations and City are confident Silva will soon sign for around £150,000 a week. Having been at City since signing from Valencia in 2010, Silva has won every domestic trophy at the club, but the Spain international wants to win the Champions League before he leaves. There has been interest from AC Milan and also from Las Palmas, the club based on his home island of Gran Canaria. It is likely that Silva will eventually finish his career at Las Palmas but he remains fundamental to City’s plans.
