Jose’s had it easy so far, insists Fowler

ROBBIE FOWLER believes Manchester United have benefited from an easy start to the season. Jose Mourinho’s side are second in the Premier League table, level on points with leaders Manchester City, but have not faced a side in the top half. While City have overcome Chelsea and Liverpool, tomorrow’s game at Anfield is the first time United will take on an anticipated title challenger. And Fowler, 42, believes this could be the start of a tough month for United, with Tottenham and Chelsea to come in the next few weeks. Former Liverpool striker Fowler told Sportsmail: ‘If you look at the fixtures — and I’m not having a go at Manchester United here — the run they’ve had, they’ve played teams who they should be beating. Without sounding disrespectful to them, you’ll see over the next month or so, with the run of fixtures they’ve got, what sort of team that really is. They’ve done well. Football is a confidence thing and winning breeds confidence.’ Fowler is convinced victory for Jurgen Klopp’s side can kick-start their campaign. ‘Liverpool haven’t started yet,’ he said. ‘They’ve had a few good results, a few good performances, but the consistency has not been there. That might all change with a win against United. ‘It won’t be the end of the world if Liverpool lose, but it makes it a little bit more difficult.’
