Amazon suspends studio boss over sex claim
AMAZON has suspended the boss of its Studios business, after he became the latest Hollywood mogul to be accused of sexual harassment.
Roy Price allegedly told lesbian producer Isa Hacket she would ‘love’ his private parts as they took a taxi in San Diego, California.
He later shouted a sexual obscenity at her at an Amazon party they both attended in the city in 2015, it is alleged. Miss Hackett reportedly rebuffed him saying she was happily married to another woman and a mother of one.
Mr Price was due to host an Amazon Studios party in London next Thursday, attended by many of the stars of its shows, but this has been cancelled.
He has been integral to the company’s movie business and his removal creates uncertainty about its direction when Amazon is investing more on video content than ever – some £3.3billion this year.
Miss Hackett, 50, produced the hit Ama- zon series The Man In The High Castle, based on the book of the same name by her father, Philip K Dick.
She told The Hollywood Reporter: ‘Having power and influence is such a huge responsibility. As somebody with some power, I feel it is imperative for me to speak out. I want to call out [Price’s] behaviour and also hold myself to a certain standard. But this incident has been looming and it’s difficult to shake it.’
Miss Hackett said she did not intend to pursue legal action against Amazon or the film chief – whose parents are the screenwriter Frank Price and actress Katherine Crawford .
Amazon said: ‘Roy Price is on leave of absence effective immediately. We are reviewing our options.’
Mr Price got engaged to New York playwright Lila Feinberg this summer. It is unclear if the couple were in a relationship when he allegedly propositioned Miss Hackett. He did not comment yesterday.
