Moshiri gives Koeman his backing

- By DOMINIC KING and MIKE KEEGAN

FARHAD MOSHIRI made a rare and unexpected visit to Finch Farm yesterday in a show of support for under-pressure Everton boss Ronald Koeman. Moshiri, the major shareholder, was joined by chairman Bill Kenwright, primarily to discuss plans for the proposed new riverfront stadium and a £4million revamp of the 10-year-old training facility. Moshiri has attended a number of Goodison Park matches but has barely set foot in Finch Farm since taking control in February 2016. They spoke to Koeman, who has come under fire for recent results. The Dutchman is aware of the importance of overseeing an upturn. In Holland, however, a campaign has started, headed by De Telegraaf — the newspaper in which Koeman, 54, has a column — to get him to take charge of the national team following their failure to qualify for the World Cup. Asked if that was a possibility he replied: ‘No way. I am Everton manager. That’s the most important thing, nothing else.’
