Sakho boost for West Ham

- KIERAN GILL

DIAFRA SAKHO’S West Ham contract has a two-year option the club could trigger to keep the reportedly unhappy striker.

The Senegal international was frustrated after missing out on a deadline-day move to French side Rennes and it is feared he might still want to go.

The contract option leaves West Ham in a strong position but they could still offer Sakho — with three goals in his last three games for club and country — a better deal if he continues to perform well.

Manager Slaven Bilic is hoping to encourage Sakho and is urging fans to stop booing and show some trust.

Jeers greeted Bilic’s double substitution against Swansea before the international break, when he brought on Sakho and Arthur Masuaku for Javier Hernandez and Andre Ayew. The two linked up for Sakho to seal a 1-0 win and Bilic said: ‘It’s better to be clapped but I must trust my decisions.’
