Dog who’s barking up the wrong tree
MORE like a squirrel than a dog, Fern the cockapoo has got pedigree when it comes to climbing.
The puppy first started doing it when she got confused chasing a stick and mistakenly ran up a tree. And now she’s discovered her unusual skill the one year old pet is constantly practising it.
Owner Margaret Robb, 6 , saw Fern’s trick when they were out in the Achilty Forest near Strathpeffer, in Ross-shire.
She said: ‘I threw a stick for Fern and it went past the tree, but she seemed to think it landed on it because she took a run-up and leapt onto the trunk.
‘She then tucked her hind legs underneath her body to give herself some grip and started to Fern: Cockapoo or re-tree-ver? climb.’ Mrs Robb posted a snap of the gravity-defying pooch on Facebook, and it has been viewed 9,000 times. She added: ‘ It received loads of interest with people joking that she was more like a koala bear.’
