Here’s how the great man did it… AUSTRALIAN OPEN (Jan) Wins his 18th Grand Slam title and first for five years by beating Rafa Nadal in a fiveset thriller Down Under. INDIAN WELLS MASTERS (March) Continues fine form by beating Stan Wawrinka 6-4, 7-5 in an all-Swiss final. MIAMI OPEN (April) Another final against Nadal goes Federer’s way, this time in straight sets. HALLE OPEN (June) Warms up for Wimbledon with a record ninth Halle title, thrashing rising German star Alexander Zverev 6-1, 6-3. WIMBLEDON (July) Wins his 19th Grand Slam without dropping a set, beating Marin Cilic in the final, to become the first man to win eight singles titles at the Championships. SHANGHAI MASTERS (Oct) Sees off world No 1 Nadal in 72 minutes to clinch his sixth title of 2017. Federer now has 27 career Masters titles, and 94 titles in total.
