Tesco comes top for mince pies
MINCE pies at six for £2 from Tesco have beaten the best of the high street, including expensive upmarket brands, in a Christmas taste test.
The result comes from the Good Housekeeping Institute which said stores have invested in improving quality.
The Tesco Finest mince pies cost 34p each, yet outscored much more expensive ‘artisan’ rivals from famous names like Selfridges, Bettys, and Gail’s.
The judges praised the ‘attractive, light-gold pastry topped with a festive snowflake-shaped lid, sprinkled with sugar’. They said: ‘We loved the mouthwatering Christmassy aroma of mincemeat and mixed spices. The balance between sweet and tart is spot on.’
