ED SHEERAN may be forced to perform without his guitar or cancel shows after injuring both his arms when he was hit by a car while cycling.

the 26-year-old, pictured left, posted an image on Instagram yesterday showing his right hand in a plaster cast and his other arm in a sling.

he wrote: ‘I’ve had a bit of a bicycle accident and I’m currently waiting on some medical advice, which may affect some of my upcoming shows.’ he is due to fly to Asia later this week for a 15-date tour on the continent. however, it is now unclear if the shows will go ahead.

the singer, from suffolk, is due to perform in taipei, taiwan, on sunday before heading to Japan and south Korea later in the week. sheeran – whose latest album, Divide, is the fastest-selling record by a male artist in British chart history – has never performed without his guitar since he rose to fame in 2011.

In 2014, he said he was ‘petrified of using a band on stage,’ and added: ‘It’s always been me and the guitar.’

It emerged last month that sheeran had become one of Britain’s wealthiest musicians after paying himself more than £15million last year.
