CHRIS PACKHAM: ASPERGER’S AND ME, 9PM, BBC2

-

‘I’VE spent 30 years on the telly, trying my best to act normal, when really I’m anything but.’ When he was in his 40s, the naturalist and presenter Chris Packham was diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome, a form of autism. The diagnosis finally explained why Chris, 56, had spent his life feeling isolated. ‘There were times when I fought it,’ he says, ‘I didn’t want to be different.’ In this deeply affecting and brutally honest film, Chris (pictured) talks movingly about how his condition has affected his life and asks ‘If a cure ever became available, would I take it?’
