Quids in! Cowell backs our £1 coin campaign for kids

-

SIMON Cowell yesterday backed the Mail’s ‘fantastic’ Quids for Kids campaign to help make the dreams of seriously ill youngsters come true.

The X Factor supremo is the latest celebrity to back our scheme to donate old pound coins to Make-A-Wish uK, which organises magical experiences for children battling life-threatening conditions. ‘The Make-A-Wish Foundation is a really fantastic charity ... So, please, have a hunt around the house for all those old pound coins,’ he said.

The old pound coins are no longer legal tender but it is estimated 450million are still in nooks and crannies in homes. Those who still have some of the old pounds can exchange them at banks and post offices. But we are appealing to readers to instead give them to Make-A-Wish, a charity that supports desperately ill youngsters undergoing gruelling treatments. Last week we launched our Quids for Kids campaign in the hope some of these 20,000 young people will have their wishes come true. The Mail has partnered with Nationwide Building Society, which will take old £1 coins until December 20. Just hand them to the cashier at any branch, stating you wish to give them to the Mail’s Quids For Kids Make-A-Wish Foundation uK appeal. Extra donations can be made in branch.
