EIGHTIES pop star Paul Hardcastle, 59, has won £3,000 from Santander, after threatening to send bailiffs to its head office to recover his son’s savings following a suspected fraud.

He complained to Santander last December after £2,907 vanished from an account opened in 1991. The bank provided no evidence the cash had been withdrawn by him or his son.

But Santander refused to hand over the money, saying it had been withdrawn.

Mr Hardcastle later issued the bank with a court judgment, but had no reply.

At his request, Santander has agreed to donate £3,012 to charity. It said the donation is not an admission it believes it was at fault.
