THE article about the model and actress Sabrina brought back memories of my time as an RaF pilot in the Sixties. Due to its two inflatable chest lobes, the RaF aircrew survival life jacket was known as the Mae West, after the wellendowe­d film star.

For two similar less well-known reasons, the bulbous aden gun brass shell case collection chambers, one on each side of the front underside fuselage, of the RaF Hawker Hunter jet fighters were affectiona­tely referred to as Sabrinas.
