See the light

-

HaLLOWEEN was almost unheard of in Britain before it arrived from the U.S. during the Seventies.

The only mitigation is that it means the eve of all Hallows, which refers to the day before all Saints’ Day, when we remember the dead.

Bonfire Night meets the need for a seasonal festival, so we don’t need the darkness obsessed Halloween.

It might be better to promote the festival of Diwali instead, which is all about light and positivity. WENDY NEVARD, New Romney, Kent.
