HOW disappoint­ing that fellow children’s author Philip Pullman feels the need to criticise A. A. Milne’s Winnie-the-Pooh stories (Mail).

There is room in literature, be it aimed at children or adults, for nostalgia as well as stark, realitybas­ed stories.

There is a deeper philosophi­cal meaning in Milne’s observatio­ns if the reader is open- minded and receptive. Winnie-the-Pooh teaches us to ask questions and not accept things at face value.
