Sticking up for Pooh
HOW disappointing that fellow children’s author Philip Pullman feels the need to criticise A. A. Milne’s Winnie-the-Pooh stories (Mail).
There is room in literature, be it aimed at children or adults, for nostalgia as well as stark, realitybased stories.
There is a deeper philosophical meaning in Milne’s observations if the reader is open- minded and receptive. Winnie-the-Pooh teaches us to ask questions and not accept things at face value.
