Seduced by Sabrina

-

I HAVE fond memories of my brief encounter with the Sixties model and actress Sab- rina (Letters). When I was 13, I used to collect autographs of footballers. In those days, visiting teams used to stay in The Queen’s Hotel in Manchester.

One Saturday morning, when Sunderland was staying there, three players came out of the front door, but they refused to stop and sign my autograph book.

Undeterred, I followed them across Piccadilly. They went into the newly opened Wade’s furniture store, where Sabrina was sat behind a table signing her photographs. That was the reason the players hadn’t wanted to be bothered with my autograph book: they were anxious to be introduced to the glamorous star.

As I had tagged along behind them, Sabrina handed me one of her signed photos, which I still treasure.

I am sure it’s much more valuable than any autograph by those Sunderland players.
