Goldman boss’s jibe at City

-

THE boss of controversial American bank Goldman Sachs was under fire last night after hinting he will pull out of the UK because of Brexit.

In a veiled threat posted on Twitter yesterday Lloyd Blankfein heaped praise on the City’s German rival Frankfurt.

‘Just left Frankfurt. Great meetings, great weather, really enjoyed it,’ he wrote. ‘Good, because I’ll be spending a lot more time there. #Brexit’. Goldman Sachs was an outspoken critic of Brexit and helped bankroll the Project Fear campaign, handing £500,000 to proRemain group Britain Stronger in Europe.

But few believe it will relocate from London to a second division financial centre. Downing Street said: ‘London is and will remain the world’s leading financial centre.’
