BANK SPENT £9,000 PROMOTING THE NEW TENNER ON SNAPCHAT

-

THE Bank of England has spent £9,000 with teenage mobile messaging favourite Snapchat in a publicity campaign for the new £10 note.

It splashed out £2,819 for a special background known as a geofilter that could be used with photos on the app, displaying £10 notes and the slogan ‘It’s here!’

The Bank spent a total of £8,859 on Snapchat stunts for the new tenner, with other campaigns including video advertisements.

Bank of England governor Mark Carney took part in the efforts ( pictured), posing with a note at a launch in Winchester. A spokesman said: ‘This was an educational campaign to increase awareness, not a marketing campaign.’
