Angry Foxes want answers

- LAURIE WHITWELL

LEICESTER players unhappy at the sacking of manager Craig Shakespeare demanded answers at a team meeting before training yesterday. Assistant Michael Appleton (right), in charge for tomorrow’s game at Swansea, said players were upset and wanted to know why Shakespeare was axed. ‘The meeting before training was a bit raw,’ said Appleton. ‘People wanted questions answering, but I’m not the person for that. I didn’t release Craig and I’m not sure of the reasons why.’ The club’s Thai owners are believed to be flying in for the Swansea game to address the squad. Appleton, 41, who left Oxford to become Shakespeare’s No 2 last June, said he had told the club he would like to see out his three-year contract but accepts a new manager might want his own man. Leicester are 18th in the Premier League but only three points off 10th place.
