My gender neutral baby, by singer Paloma

- By Susie Coen Showbusiness Reporter

PALOMA Faith is bringing up her first child as gender neutral.

The singer gave birth last year and has never disclosed the baby’s name or sex.

Now she has revealed she wants all her children ‘to be who they want to be’ and said she will never dress them in stereotypical pinks or blues.

Reflecting on her first year of being a parent, she said: ‘I love being a mum. I want two or three kids in all and they’ll be gender neutral.’

Miss Faith, 36, whose child with her French boyfriend Leyman Lahcine was born last December, has not shared any images of her baby on Instagram, only posting an image of a child’s rainbowcoloured knitted cardigan.

The singer, who has previously discussed her feminist views and is a supporter of gay rights, spoke about her baby’s upbringing to the Sunday Mirror at the Q Awards.

Her comments come after John Lewis announced that it was removing gender labels from its children’s clothing and getting rid of separate boys and girls sections in its stores.

In a growing trend, Mothercare is launching a gender neutral clothing range which mainly features items in black, white, grey and yellow.

Miss Faith has already told how she endured a 20-hour labour, saying she ‘went to the gates of hell and brought back an angel’. Her natural birth plan did not go as hoped and she had an emergency Caesarean section. She later thanked NHS staff for their ‘devotion’.
