JOSE’S DILEMMA OVER LINDELOF

- By CHRIS WHEELER

JOSE MOURINHO may have to rely on Victor Lindelof once again in tonight’s Carabao Cup tie at Swansea despite the Sweden defender’s blunders in Saturday’s defeat by Huddersfield. Lindelof was criticised for his part in both goals after replacing the injured Phil Jones in the 23rd minute of United’s 2-1 defeat at the John Smith’s Stadium. With Jones set to miss the fourth-round clash and Eric Bailly and Marcos Rojo only just recovering from injury, Mourinho may have little choice but to put his faith in United’s £31million summer signing from Benfica. The other options to partner Chris Smalling in central defence are Daley Blind or Axel Tuanzebe. After seeing United suffer their first domestic defeat of the season, Juan Mata called on the cup holders to respond. ‘It’s time to learn from mistakes and keep going,’ said Mata, ‘showing that the team sticks together when things don’t go so well, which is when we need it most.’
