Hammers feel blue over colour scheme

- Charles Sale

WEST Ham are in conflict with their London Stadium landlords over the green- coloured surrounds to the football pitch.

Struggling Hammers manager Slaven Bilic believes it can confuse his players and has asked repeatedly for the astroturf area around the playing surface to be changed to another colour.

West Ham have even offered to pay for the £200,000 astroturf replacement, with claret — obviously — their preferred option.

However landlords E20 were amenable to the initiative only if the new colour was blue so it was consistent with the London Stadium branding and wouldn’t affect efforts to bring other sports events to the venue

But the option has been turned down by West Ham because the navy blue colour is associated with their arch rivals Tottenham as well as West Bromwich albion.

an E20 spokesman said West Ham seemed happy with their proposed colour switch at first but subsequently changed their minds. DISGRACED former FIFA secretarygeneral Jerome Valcke has put his yacht Ornella on sale for £3.1million. The 32-metre boat sleeps nine people in four en-suite cabins and has quarters for five crew. Valcke is under criminal investigation by the Swiss authorities over allegations he accepted bribes from Nasser Al-Khelaifi, president of Paris Saint-Germain, over the sale of World Cup TV rights. This allegedly included Valcke’s regular use of a holiday home in Sardinia, where Ornella was often moored. BOXING promoter Frank Warren is understood to have been awarded £300,000 in costs and damages from middleweight boxer Chris Eubank Jnr (right). This follows Eubank’s withdrawal from a mandatory fight against Tommy Langford on October 11, 2016 for which Warren won the purse bid to stage the event. ITV RACING’S arch irritant Matt Chapman appears to have seriously annoyed top jockey Ryan Moore when he interviewed his eight-year-old son Toby at Plumpton ahead of his pony race debut. Chapman ambushed father and son in a hospitality area and judging by his demeanour in the At The Races Twitter video of the encounter, the monosyllabic Ryan will have even less to say to Chapman in future. To be fair to Chapman, young Toby was far more talkative.
