MY DAD’S BETTER THAN YOU!
Ronaldo pips Messi to be crowned No 1
THERE is little doubt where Cristiano Ronaldo Jnr stands on the great football debate of the last decade: is his dad or Lionel Messi the best in the world? The seven-year-old was introduced to the Barcelona striker by Real Madrid star Ronaldo before last night’s The Best FIFA Awards at the London Palladium. Then he heard confirmation of his view when his dad retained the footballer of the year prize he won ahead of Messi in 2016. Zinedine Zidane was named coach of the year to complete a Real Madrid sweep of the two major prizes, with Chelsea’s Antonio Conte missing out. Not a single Premier League player was picked for FIFA’s team of the year, but Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud did collect the Ferenc Puskas prize for the goal of the year for his spectacular scorpion kick against Crystal Palace.
