Freed, the British tourist, 27, jailed in Dubai for touching a man’s hip
A BRITISH man who was sentenced to three months in a Dubai jail for touching another man’s hip has had the charges against him suddenly dropped.
Jamie Harron, from Stirling, Scotland, was sentenced for public indecency in the United Arab Emirates on Sunday.
But he is now free to leave the country after authorities returned his passport, and he is expected home today.
Detained in Dubai, the group representing Mr Harron, said he had been exonerated by Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Mr Harron was arrested after he allegedly touched another man as he moved through a crowded bar on July 15. He claimed he was trying to avoid spilling his drink.
The 27-year-old said yesterday: ‘No one should go through what I went through ... The past few months have been up and down and full of worry for everyone.’
