Woman dies in tank of caramel

A MOTHER-of-one died when molten caramel suddenly gushed into a tank that she was cleaning at a confectionery factory.

Natalia Nemets, 36, is believed to have ‘boiled alive’ in the accident in the Russian city of Stary Oskol, 400 miles south of Moscow. She fell into the tank, a giant bowl which is used to mix the caramel, while cleaning it, and then the caramel gushed in, according to local media reports.

Fellow workers could do nothing to save her. ‘She did not cry, no other noise was heard,’ one report said. ‘Natalia did not have a chance to survive.’

Officials have begun an investigation into the death, the third at the factory this year.
