Rag trade

-

I DIDN’T think the fashion for ripped and slashed jeans would last until the end of the summer, but now a designer has dressed a model in just the stitched seams of what could have, at one time, been jeans (Mail).

The trend is now shredded T-shirts, blouses and sweaters that look like little more than various strips glued to the body.

I find it perplexing that ‘pre-worn’ clothes can be sold as new with a hefty surcharge.

These overpriced rags are championed by well-paid celebrities and copied by young women. Are we supposed to feel sorry for the wearers, or is it an attempt to show empathy with the poor and homeless?
