information centres are on the endangered list. No wonder! i have hardly ever been in one where the staff haven’t been rude, dozy, on the phone to friends or keen to press a sheaf of useless leaflets into my hands to get rid of me before closing for a three-hour lunch. And no, sorry, they can’t recommend a hotel or restaurant — it’s against the rules. Gah. No wonder we all take our chances online instead.
