Are drivers seen as cash cows by the police?

-

I AGREE that motorists are being treated as cash cows (Mail). It was a lovely sunny Sunday afternoon as I drove down the gentle slope of a Northamptonshire village. There was not a soul in sight apart from a white van parked at the foot of the slope. I discovered what it was doing there when I later received a £100 speeding ticket for doing 37mph in a 30mph limit. I could have gone on a speed awareness course, but what could they teach someone who has been driving for decades? I thought such courses were intended for young guys in BMWs speeding dangerously.

Name and address supplied. CLAIMING that drivers are being used as cash cows misses the point. The increase in revenue is an indication that more motorists are breaking the law. Every day you can see other drivers using a phone at the wheel, failing to indicate and undertaking on motorways.

M. CUNNINGHAM, Sidcup, Kent. GOOD news for all those cash cow drivers. I have a plan and I know it works because in more than 40 years of driving, I have never been fined for a motoring offence. Follow the Highway Code.

CLAIRE WINTER, Bristol. THE police won’t investigate socalled low-level crimes such as burglaries, but they will still target motorists doing a couple of miles an hour over the speed limit.

J. FOSTER, Ormskirk, Lancs. I HAVE been issued with tickets on three occasions when parking in a disabled bay in a NCP car park with my disabled permit on the dashboard. It’s not just the police who see drivers as cash cows. JAMES MILLER, New Romney, Kent.
