SELFIE PASSWORD PLAN

-

CUSTOMERS at TSB will be able to check their online accounts by taking a selfie, thanks to a new deal with Apple.

The lender will use facial recognition software linked to the camera on the new iPhone X to let consumers log in. It will be an alternative to using their password.

The iPhone X, which is about to launch in Britain, projects more than 30,000 invisible dots onto users’ faces to create a detailed map, combining this with an infrared scanner. TSB already allows customers with Samsung Galaxy S8 phones to log in by scanning their eye.

Profits at the bank, owned by Spanish lender Sabadell, fell 17pc to £134.2m in the first nine months of 2017.
