time they shared a public peck was 12 years ago, after a polo match in Cirencester in 2005, while their first – some 29 years after they first met and four years before they married – came in 2001 at a party at London’s Somerset House.

On their tour the couple will also visit Malaysia, Brunei and India. Yesterday they attended an event celebrating the Commonwealth Games at which Charles held the games’s baton, which is on a relay around the world.

The couple also met Singaporean athletes who will compete in the games in Australia next year.
