Dior’s face of anti-wrinkle cream... Cara, aged just 25!

SHE celebrated her 25th birthday less than three months ago. So Cara Delevingne’s latest claim to fame may come as something of a surprise.

For the model-turned-actress has been chosen by fashion house Dior to front its new campaign... for antiwrinkle cream.

Miss Delevingne was announced as the face of Dior Capture, a range of stem cell-infused products from serum to cleanser that ‘correct all visible signs of ageing to reveal a radiant youthful beauty’.

However Dior has come under fire for using such a young celebrity to promote anti-ageing potions and lotions. The French brand was criticised on social media, with baffled Twitter users calling for a more ageappropriate model to be used.

One critic said: ‘Beautiful Cara is 25. I’m 51 and I’m your target audience. It’s a wrinkle cream. This is unfair to her and to me.’ Another said: ‘Sorry Dior – that product line is aimed at 30+. She’s gorgeous but at 25...’. A third suggested 82-year-old Dame Maggie Smith should be the face of the anti-ageing range.

Dior’s announcement of the appointment of the fresh-faced Miss Delevingne on their Instagram page, with the hashtag #diorforyouth, led others on Instagram to use the hashtag #thatsnotme to express their disapproval and call for an older model to be used in the campaign.

Popular British beauty blogger Caroline Hirons wrote on her website: ‘The beauty industry talks to older women like that moron at a party that attempts to humour you by talking “at” you, all the while looking over your shoulder to see if someone more interesting (younger) has walked into the room.

‘We’re in the room. And personally, as long as you insist on ignoring me (us), I’ll be taking my money elsewhere. And highlighting your poor marketing decisions on my social media platforms.’
