Educated decision

-

HOW dare ‘snooty ninny’ Labour MP Barry Sheerman presume to tell me that I am ill- educated because I voted to leave the sclerotic EU?

I have a degree in English literature from Sussex University, one of the hotbeds of Leftie liberalism.

I am proud to have voted Leave; if it ends up costing me £5,000 then that will be money well spent — just tell me where to send the cheque.

In 1973, when I was 18, I voted to join the EEC. I did not have a clue what I was voting for. I voted ‘In’ because that was what my then boyfriend did.

Now, after a lifetime of working, bringing up a family and paying taxes, I realise what a mistake I made.

Remainiacs want to preserve their gravy trains; they’re the epitome of selfishness.

The next two or three years as we transition may well be tricky. But after that, watch us soar.

AS A retired university lecturer, I chuckled at the claim that ‘lesseducated’ people voted for Brexit.

It did not take all my degrees and professional qualifications to see how squeezed our infrastructure has become, due to mass migration from mainly East European countries.

Until last year I lived in Spalding, Lincs, where doctors’ surgeries were over- subscribed; hospital waiting rooms are so crowded that a fracture clinic ran out of chairs and people with their legs in casts had to stand; and schools are chaotic because of the huge numbers swelling the classes, some of whom need English lessons.

Whenever anyone raised this with councillors or our MP, we were told nothing could be done to ease the problem unless we left the EU.

As an intelligent and educated citizen, I voted for Brexit — like the majority of my fellow East Anglians.

UNLIKE university lecturers, most of whom support Remain, I have an honours degree from the universities of the real world and hard knocks.

I am proud to have been trained by the RAF as an electronics ground engineer.

I voted Leave because I don’t like my country being told who we can trade with or having endless laws imposed on us by clueless bureaucrats in Brussels.
